The Longhorn Corvette Club
The Longhorn Corvette Club (LCC) was chartered in the summer of 1973 by a group of Corvette enthusiasts who were interested in enjoying their Corvettes through automotive activities and meeting other Corvette owners. The first public gathering was at the Gazebo by Town Lake, the starting point for a successful and warmly remembered Hill Country Tour. From that beginning, the club has grown to over 200 members.
The Longhorn Corvette Club is a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC), a national sanctioning body providing insurance, organization, nationally recognized rules and guidelines. Nationally, NCCC has over 15,000 members in approximately 300 Corvette clubs. LCC is currently one of the largest Corvette clubs in the nation.
The club is involved in community affairs through participation in parades, car shows and local charity programs. In addition, car oriented activities such as autocrosses, drag racing, tours and rallys allow the whole family to participate in a safe, wholesome and fun environment. The Corvetter has an opportunity to drive at nationally known professional tracks, such as Road Atlanta, Texas World Speedway, Hallett, Daytona and Sebring, where you don't have to worry about the speed limit.
LCC holds a number of events every year, but always has the following
three events every year: Perry Hampton Picnic, Region Roundup, and a Corvette
Car Show.
The Perry Hampton Picnic is held in April to present
an award to a member who has unselfishly supported LCC throughout the year.
This is considered the highest award the LCC can bestow on a member. The
Perry Hampton Committee is chaired by the Vice President and presents the
award to the selected member.
The Region Roundup is LCC's NCCC weekend. LCC members host the Southwest
Region of the NCCC for a multi-event weekend usually consisting of "Texas
Style" Low Speed Autocrosses.
Corvette Summer Celebration is LCC's Summer Corvette Show, with proceeds
going to charities selected by the membership.
Membership in LCC is limited to registered owners (and spouses) of Chevrolet Corvettes. Membership offers friendship with other Corvette owners, an avenue to technical expertise, NCCC and local competition, parties, B.S. sessions, and more.
The monthly publication of LCC is the BULLetin. The publication tells about LCC and NCCC activities and provides articles of interest to the membership. The BULLetin was the winner for the 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1995 NCCC newsletter contest.
